The value behind a VIVIERS garment | Redefining luxury through ethical practice.

VIVIERS places the hand of the artisan and artistic practice at the top of the socially ethical pyramid. We believe that luxury and humanity are synonyms and should be the key focus as we co-create a conscious, circular future. Our studio is rooted in co-existence and mutual respect for each other, our materials, and how our actions affect the world and those around us.

Every VIVIERS piece is built in-house by a small team, from pattern to final hand finish. We trace the origins and provenance of our textiles, work with South African materials where possible, and revive vintage textiles with intent.

When you invest in a VIVIERS garment, you invest in:

COUTURE CRAFTMANSHIP
Every garment is hand-cut, hand-made, individually developed and hand-finished in our South African atelier. Our specialised team of tailors and makers craft collectable, Limited-Edition pieces designed to be lived with, treasured and, one day, passed on. We do not compromise on quality: the question is always how we can make a piece more considered, more beautiful, never how we can make it cheaper.

UNIQUENESS & LIMITED QUANTITIES
Our Made-To-Order artisanal offering showcases our most innovative, experimental and conceptual designs, available only in very LIMITED EDITIONS. Many pieces are sculpted directly on the body and produced as one-of-one garments or in ultra-limited series. Slow production, creative pattern cutting, careful fabric choice and reduced waste are built into every step. The hand-finishing and embellishment of each VIVIERS piece is our signature stamp of uniqueness and creativity.

SUPPORTING LOCAL ARTISANS
Each garment directly supports and sustains local South African artisans, ensuring fair wages and dignified, skilled employment within our studio community. The value of the human hand and touch is central to our practice: pattern cutters, tailors, beaders, dyers and finishers translate ideas into garments you can feel, see and live with.

SOCIAL IMPACT & TRANSPARENCY
Every art garment contributes to the salaries of 17 people in our studio – pattern cutters, seamstresses, dyers, finishers, designers, interns and support staff. We believe in transparency and in crediting all involved, from the studio floor to our wider collaborators. The hands that make your garment imbue it with precision, integrity, love and patience. Your support allows us to keep refining a more conscious, human-centred way of working.

SUSTAINABLE, CONSCIOUS MATERIALS & PROVENANCE
We work with collectible vintage and re-imagined fabrics, South African fibres, hand-dyed fabrics and reclaimed materials. Every fabric is chosen with intention, reducing waste and honouring the planet while preserving the heritage of local craft. We prioritise accountability, traceability and transparency in how materials enter and move through our studio. Any leftovers are re-imagined into innovative new materials, upcycled as appliqué, cut into strips for weaving and knitting, or used as other forms of embellishment.

TIME, RESEARCH & CREATIVE VISION
Each VIVIERS garment carries hours of research, experimentation, pattern making, fittings and refined handwork, honouring time, skill and care over speed and mass production. Time is our greatest luxury. Our clothes take time to imagine, to test, to cut, to stitch, to finish by hand.
You are investing in a garment rooted in an ethical philosophy that honours the people who make it, the materials we work with, and the world it moves through. You are collecting a piece made to last a lifetime as we offer a lifetime warranty and repair service

A VIVIERS piece is not just worn – it is lived with, treasured and collected.

Thank you for choosing independent craftsmanship and helping to sustain a conscious, socially impactful future for fashion in South Africa.
